1 Alarm Structure Fire- 219 Carmelita Drive

At 8:51 p.m. on Thursday, December 3rd, 2009, the Mountain View Fire Department responded to a 911 call reporting a fire in the storage building of a residence at 219 Carmelita Drive.  Upon arrival firefighters found the rear detached storage sheds of the residence engulfed in flames.  Firefighters quickly initiated an aggressive fire attack and were able to confine the fire to the area of origin.  The fire was quickly extinguished which prevented damage to the home.  Investigators are working to determine the cause and origin of the fire.  No damage estimate is available at this time.

No injuries were reported during this incident.  The structures were detached from the home and used for storage, so no residents were displaced due to the fire.

The Mountain View Fire Department wants fire safety to be your top priority this holiday season.  Please remember to not overload circuits as you string your holiday lights, and never leave burning candles unattended.  If you have an artificial tree, be sure it’s labeled, certified or identified by the manufacturer as fire-retardant and if you choose a fresh tree make sure the that you add water to the tree daily.  More holiday safety tips are available on the National Fire Protection Associations (NFPA) website at www.nfpa.org.   With a little added awareness and some minor adjustments to holiday decorating, the season can remain festive and safe for everybody.
