No Drugs Down the Drain Take Back Event

                                                    Saturday, September 26, 2009
                                                    10:00am - 2:00pm
                                                    Walgreens
                                                    112 N. Rengstorff Avenue
                                                    Mountain View, California 94043

Pharmaceuticals may help a lot of people, but they can also pollute our waterways and have harmful effects on fish and other wildlife when disposed of improperly.  The City of Mountain View Fire Department, Environmental Protection Division wants residents to know that the proper way to dispose of unused or outdated pharmacuticals is not by flushing them down the drain or toilets as once previously thought. Rather we encourage residents to turn them in to a drug take back location where they will be disposed of properly with no harm to the environment.

The Fire Department will be hosting a pharmaceutical drug take back day on Saturday, September 26th at Walgreens located at 112 N. Rengstorff Ave.  This event will run from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm and will accept unused, unwanted or expired medications for proper disposal.   Controlled substances will not be accepted.  If you cannot make this event but are interested in turning in your unwanted or unused medications please visit  http://146.74.224.231/archives/2009/04/county_implemen.html for a list of locations in your area.  Please note that unused or unwanted medications cannot be dropped off at Fire Stations in Mountain View.
