WHAT: 1 Alarm Structure Fire
WHEN: Saturday, May 30, 2009
WHERE: 210 Hope Street, Mountain View
DETAILS:
At 10:55 am on Saturday, May 30, 2009, the Mountain View Fire Department responded to a 911 call reporting smoke coming from the roof of a building in the area of Villa Street and Hope Street. When firefighters arrived on scene they found a kitchen fire at the restaurant, Spice Island. Firefighters began a search of the building and an aggressive fire attack operation. The fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished. Fire damage was limited to the kitchen area and hood's duct system that extended to the second story. The restaurants kitchen and the second story of the building did suffer water damage from the automatic sprinkler system that activated in the early stages of the fire. There is currently not a tenant on the second floor of the building.
There were no reported injuries to occupants or firefighters. The Santa Clara County Health Department is enroute to determine when the restaurant can re-open.
The Mountain View Police Department provided assistance during this incident.
