Fortunately, bank robberies don't happen every day. But when they do, they can put employees' and customers' lives at risk. The police department needs the support of bank employees in order to capture and convict bank robbers. For these reasons, MVPD offers robbery training for local banks, and other financial institutions, to prepare employees for what to do during and after a robbery. Mock robberies are conducted to give your employees the feel of a real robbery. Sessions last about two hours and are offered in the bank before or after regular business hours.
The police department works with your company to develop a systematic response to a robbery. Periodic review and practice of robbery procedures makes it easier for employees to remain calm during a real robbery. These procedures are also designed to preserve evidence and gather information for the police investigation.
The training begins with an introduction to bank robberies and a discussion of the risks. The MVPD trainer and bank managers review response procedures and employee responsibilities. The presentation includes post-robbery safety, information gathering, and how to describe persons, vehicle and weapons.
The Mock Robbery After the introduction, the business will pretend to go about daily affairs. MVPD will provide play money to the tellers. Role players will be allowed to enter the bank and pretend to rob it. Role players can be as low-key or realistic as desired. The more realistic mock robbery allows employees to experience a manageable amount of the stress they'd experience during an actual robbery. Practicing under conditions mimicking those of a real robbery gives participants a better idea of how they'll actually behave under stressful circumstances.
Post-Robbery Assessment After the mock robbery, MVPD will quiz participants about what happened and offer suggestions. At the end of the training, employees should be much better prepared to act in ways that protect lives and increase the odds of capturing and convicting robbers.
