Getting an Item off the Mobile Library Service Vehicle

1. If I'm in the Library and I see that an item is available on the Mobile Library Service Vehicle, how do I get it?

If the vehicle is at the Library a staff person will try to locate it for you.  Go to the Welcome Desk on the first floor in the Lobby or call (650) 903-6337.  The Library has phone service:  Monday-Thursday 10am to 9pm; Friday-Saturday 10am to 6pm.

If the vehicle is not at the Library, they will get your name and library card number from you, and have the item pulled when the vehicle has returned. You will receive a phone call when the item is ready and waiting for you at the Customer Services Desk.
In the event that the item is checked out during the time the vehicle is out, a staff member will place a hold on it for you. They will call you to let you know that the item is no longer available for immediate checkout.
2. Why can't I get or place a hold on the item myself?
Unlike many bookmobile services, our Library vehicle does not go to neighborhoods.  Instead, the Mobile Library travels to preschools, senior living facilities, and corporations, which are not open to the public.  When any item, in the Library or on the Mobile Library vehicle, is available, you cannot place a hold on it through the system.  However, you can call (650) 903-6337 and have a staff person locate the item.  We will let you know the status of your request.
