Come join the Friends of the Mountain View Public Library! Our goals are to
- - help keep the community and the library connected
- - communicate the benefits and needs of the library
- - aid in the funding of high quality library resources and services
The Friends have raised over $300,000 to achieve these goals through sales from the Lobby Shop and Used Book Sales.
The Lobby Shop sells used books, videos, puppets and many other interesting gifts for adults and children. It is conveniently located near the main library entrance and is staffed by volunteers. Feel free to call the shop at 650-526-7049, or email us at fmvpl@earthlink.net for more information. You can also call the Donation Room at 650-526-7031 and leave a message. We will call you back as soon as possible.
The very popular Friend's Book Sales are held several times throughout the year. Watch for dates and times on this page and at the library. Of course, if you can't wait, try the online store for the Friends at Amazon. If you have books that you would like to donate, see our donation guidelines. Funds raised by the Friends from book sales, Lobby Shop, and online sales are used to support:
- - Children's Summer Reading Program
- - Teen Programs
- - Mobile Library Services
- - Furniture and Shelving
- - Parent Education Programs
- - New Media Purchases and More!
If you love the library, then perhaps you should consider joining. There are two ways to get involved - join as a member for only $10, or volunteer at the Lobby Shop or Book Sales by calling the Donation Room at 650-526-7031. Of course, most of us enjoy doing both! You are also welcome to attend a Friends' meeting on the third Wednesday of the month in the Library Community Room. All meetings are open to the public.
