Docent-Led Tours

Docent-led tours are available at Rengstorff House three days a week, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Over the weekend, please look for the sign in the window indicating the next timed tour and wait patiently in the garden.

Tours generally last approximately 30 minutes, but can often be tailored to meet your time schedule and varied interests.  Our volunteer docents are on duty to share with you the history of the Rengstorff family, the story of the restoration project, and provide a series of intriguing stories to heighten your interest in the Victorian era and inform you of how people lived during this time.  Come listen to an antique Edison or Victrola machine, and possibly look through a stereoptica viewer while you are here!

Rengstorff House tours are a special way to spend a morning or afternoon with your walking partner, spouse, grandchild or friend while at Shoreline.  Make a day of it, and then venture out to Shoreline's nearby eateries, Michaels at Shoreline or Lakeside Cafe.  You can even come by Rengstorff House after a round of golf!  People of all ages are welcome.  We will also do our best to accommodate out-of-town guests and international travellers.  If you haven't yet had an opportunity to step back in time at Rengstorff House, we hope you come visit.  For group tour requests, please call (650) 903-6392 or email Senior Recreation Coordinator Kristina Rockhold for more information.
