    Recreation Plan

The City Council adopted the city's first Recreation Plan on July 8, 2008.  Set as a major City goal in May 2005, the purpose of the Plan is to provide a comprehensive review and assessment of recreation programs, services and facilities provided by the Community Services Department's Recreation Division, as well as preparation of a long-term (10-year) recreation-focused vision for the community.  The Plan serves as a companion document to the City's Parks and Open Space Plan (POSP).  The Plan emphasizes the role and vision of the Community Services Department to "Create Community through People, Parks and Programs" and includes recommendations for traditional recreation programs, services and facilities, as well as other human service and community programs viewed as important by the community.  The Plan is comprised of an executive summary, six chapters and appendices containing background data and discussion in support of the Plan recommendations.  Some of the major features are:  10 outcomes expected by the community; 23 program and service recommendations; 7 priority recreation facilities; 3 options for addressing various levels of athletic facility demand; and, implementation strategies.  The Recreation Division is preparing action steps and metrics for the first three years of the plan.

    College Intern Program

Fourth year college students enrolled in a Recreation or Leisure Studies curriculum of an accredited college or university may apply for the Mountain View Recreation Internship Program. This well-rounded, hands on experience reflects what recreation professionals do on the job to facilitate programs and services in the community.  To apply, please send a letter of inquiry and a current resume. Once information is received, a selection and interview process follow. The intern may receive limited compensation at a rate to be determined by the Recreation Manager. The Recreation Division and the student partner in the educational process by sharing the required knowledge and work experiences to fulfill the internship standards of the university.
    Accessibility
In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), auxiliary aids and services will be provided upon request when given three (3) days notice.
